The Pursuit of Big Fish, Bad Weather and Good Friends.

Howdy, just wanted to give you an update. In the last 24 hours we have doubled our response again! We are looking to have upwards of 40 anglers and a bunch of sponsors. This is what we have so far…. Shooting from the hip! Friday Oct. 23rd (3pm- 8pm) we will all meet/greet at the Big Meadow Lodge. Entry fee is $20.00 and includes event t-shirt, there will be a raffle as well. Raffle/Prizes will be awarded on Saturday October 24, 2009. Remember, this is non-profit and all monies will be donated to Bridgeport’s Fourth of July fund. We will go over the rules, sign-in and hand out shirts. We would like everyone to hang around and have a potluck/barbeque. We will provide barbeques and ice chests, and we ask that you provide what you want to eat and drink. We will have a bon fire that evening also, make sure you dress warm.

Big Meadow Lodge has been gracious enough to provide the entire lodge at a discounted rate. The lodge can hold up to 20 anglers and half has been reserved already. If you need a room, please let me know.

Saturday we will chase big fish. Whether you like to fish with a fly rod, bait fish, troll etc., it does not matter. The reason we are doing this is to have a good time. Also, it doesn’t matter what water you fish, the sky’s the limit, and ok, maybe we need to stay in Mono County…lol! I think we will have two divisions, one for conventional type fishing and one for fly fishing.

The weather will be chilly at best, be sure to come prepared for the elements. Most tournaments and get-togethers are held much earlier in the year. This event is put together around the challenges of targeting bigger fish and tolerating the colder weather.

Again, this event is purely for sport, fishing and meeting one another.

Personal gain will not be tolerated. Bottom line, it's fishing, and it's supposed to be fun.

AHO is non-profit and was started for outdoorsman by outdoorsman, for the sake of keeping the outdoor heritage alive. We feel that it's especially important that we work together as outdoorsmen/women to oppose attitude, encroachment, closures, and greed are present on our public lands and waterways.

Again, this all started out as a bunch of guys/gals wanting to get-together to fish. We had such a great response by friends telling friends, our meet/greet has turned into a small tournament (all for fun).

The tournament will end at 3 pm, and you must be checked back in by 3:30 pm at the Big Meadow Lodge. There, we will again be having a potluck/barbeque, bon fire etc. With raffle starting at 4:15 pm. Prizes and big fish winners will be announced and awarded then.
